What’s Wrong With Network Marketing?

Many people may be wondering why ordinarily intelligent people would choose to get involved in network marketing.

They ask questions like
“What’s wrong with network marketing?”

Isn’t network marketing a scam?
Isn’t network marketing a pyramid scheme?
Don’t you have to bother all of your friends and family?
Don’t only the top 3% ever make those big incomes?

Well, the answers to these questions are yes and no. It all depends on the company you’re involved with, your compensation plan, how your sponsors treat you, and the quality & scope of the training they provide.

Let me assure you, I am an intelligent woman and I do know what I’m doing. Let me share with you some of what I learned about Network Marketing {aka Multi Level Marketing or MLM}.

First thing that I learned is that you have to do your research.

You need to understand the Network Marketing business model.

It is often compared to a traditional business model. Think of Wal-Mart. Every store has a level of clerks and a level of store management. Then, company-wide, there are regional managers and upper management at the corporate level. At the very top is Sam.

Network Marketing is structured similarly.

New distributors compare to clerks and distributors who have achieved various levels in the company compare to the various management levels. At the top there is still a President or CEO. The difference is that the levels under the CEO are completely fluid. People can move up and down levels completely dependent on how much effort they put into building their businesses.

Next, you have to know what you’re doing when choosing the company you want to be affiliated with.

This is where many of us fail miserably.

We get captivated by the glitz and hype, usually delivered by well meaning people. People who are just like us…everyday, average working folks who are looking to make extra income from home…and some who are realizing the American Dream of making a full time income from their home-based business.

Trying to work your way through all of the companies and pitches and training programs can make your head spin, not to mention max out your credit cards!

Before signing on the dotted line, make sure you completely read and understand the company’s policy and procedures and compensation plan. If you can’t understand these documents, get someone to explain them to you.

Let’s face it, Network Marketing is a business.

You need to change your mindset and start treating it as a business. You need to start treating yourself as a business professional.

Nobody would sign a business agreement for a brick and mortar business without fully understanding the documents. When you read and understand a company’s documents, you will know whether you are getting into a no-win deal or a scam.
